Bridget Milliken

A local to Shallotte North Carolina, Bridget saw the growing need for mental health treatment facilities in the area. In 2019, she decided the best way she could help the most people was to establish a healing environment in the form of Family Ties Mental Health and Substance Abuse. She continues to bring her wealth of knowledge and determination to make a difference to both her role as CEO and as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor.

Amanda Thomas

Hey there! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate and a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist Associate. I received a BSW from UNCW,  an MSW from Indiana Wesleyan University, and I am a current PhD student at Regent University. My dissertation research involves a training manual for those who are navigating the impacts of substance use or for those who exhibit drug-seeking behavior.

Everyone has a story, and I am curious about yours! As a compassionate and grounded therapist, I can provide a safe, non-judgmental space to explore challenges and work toward healing and growth.  I can help navigate a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationships, and substance use. I believe in empowering others to actively participate in their therapeutic journey while fostering a collaborative and supportive relationship. My approach is tailored to unique needs and goals, incorporating evidence-based practices with an understanding of the complexities of human experience. I utilize attachment theory to understand the ways early relationships shape our attachment style and influence relationships throughout our lives, and a range of therapeutic approaches, including cognitive and dialectical behavior modalities as well as art and narrative-based therapeutic interventions. I can help parents and children navigate challenges with ADHD, ASD, and trauma.

As a therapist, I also value the importance of spirituality. I offer faith-based counseling that integrates Christian principles and values into the therapeutic process. My approach is grounded in empathy, compassion, and a deep respect for every unique spiritual journey.

Faith-based counseling can provide a sense of comfort, hope, and guidance for individuals seeking to navigate the challenges of life. In our sessions, we can explore how faith informs experiences, challenges, and goals. If faith is not part of your journey, we can explore what gives meaning and value to your life.

Looking forward to working with you and your family!
